About Constellate
Constellate was created in 2025 by Abby Alexanian to help social change organizations navigate increasing social, economic, and environmental upheaval towards a more regenerative, adaptive, and equitable future. Constellate works with leaders and teams to plan for and manage organizational changes using creative and future-oriented approaches so they can navigate both the ordinary and the unpredictable changes from a position of strength and integrity. By helping organizations integrate and activate their values, strategies, systems, and execution, Constellate helps clients lead their organizations and communities through unpredictable conditions to achieve societal transformation from the inside out, all the while staying grounded in purpose and possibility.
“Change is everywhere. Whether it’s artificial intelligence and the next technology revolution, rising temperatures and the climate crisis, the changing nature of work and economic uncertainty, or the breakdown of trust and the shocks to our sense of what is true and legitimate, change keeps coming at us from all directions. It’s really difficult to feel grounded in this world of constant and rapid change. Instead of anticipating the future, we react to change (often too late) or we give into uncertainty (and anxiety) and do nothing.”
Institute for the Future, 7 Steps Toward Becoming a Future-Ready Organization
Successful internal change management directly translates to better mission delivery. When social sector organizations are consistently able to embody their values, adapt successfully to external changes, and manage internal shifts creatively and with integrity, then they can level-up their mission delivery and more effectively support the communities they serve. They are also better able to help insulate these communities from current and future instability, thus contributing to the construction of a more equitable, just, and regenerative future society for us all.
“One of our key roles as social movements must be to harness the shocks and direct the slides – all towards achieving the systemic, cultural and psychic shifts we need to navigate the changes with the greatest equity, resilience and ecological restoration possible.”
Movement Generation, Shocks, Slides, and Shifts Framework
The potential impact is huge. Nonprofits serve millions of people annually in the United States (not to mention internationally). But not only that – they employ 12.8 million people in the US each year. When these organizations improve how they change, which changes they make, how aligned they are with their values, and their strategies for navigating the future, they are directly creating more stable and life-sustaining futures for staff, their families, and their diverse communities. When an organization is developing a new strategic plan, contending with the implications of funding shifts, deciding whether to adjust their mission or services, or managing any of the many other types of changes organizations face, how they go about it will make all the difference.
